Gardneri Killifish (Fundulopanchax gardneri)

The Gardneri Killifish is a hardy, beginner-friendly species known for its vivid colors and peaceful temperament. Native to small streams and pools in West Africa, these fish do well in planted aquariums with calm waters and plenty of hiding spots.

• Size: Up to 2.5 inches

• Tank Size: 10 gallons minimum

• Temperature: 72–78°F

• pH: 6.0–7.5

• Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water

• Diet: Omnivorous — enjoys live or frozen foods, micro pellets, and high-quality flakes

• Behavior: Peaceful; best kept as a pair or trio (1 male to 1–2 females)

• Lifespan: About 2–3 years

These fish appreciate subdued lighting, floating plants, and botanicals for cover. They are egg-layers and will breed readily if conditions are right. Great for nano setups and species tanks, but also suitable for peaceful community tanks with similarly sized fish.
